Start Shooting More

So I've come to the realization that I need to start shooting more, so that's what I plan to do.

I worked with my father as a field laborer for a day. Most of these people are either legal or illegal immigrants and work for 50 dollars a day, which is a significant amount more than they make in a day in their home country. They work 8 hours a day in the scorching sun tilling the soil and picking crop.

  1. Because I am the FIRST, I guess I'm your #1 fan huh Sammy? Is that a photo of your father? Nice shots! I've learned a lot from you, and I am still learning. I'm looking forward to taking some interesting photographs during my trip to Mexico in a couple of weeks. You inspire me!

  3. OK...here goes (and you asked me...so...). this subject matter is what it is...to be more effective...you need to decide on whether you're going to focus on the people or the task.

If you focus on the people...it's not just about the work that they do in the fields...it's about the rest of their lives and relationships at home.

If it's about the task...then I think you're more on track. Of course I'd like to see more...I think that they are trechnically superior...I like the attention to detail, use of depth of field and "rule of thirds"..

Not knowing the "where of it"...what I want to see is...how early do they get up to get to work (shots of them prepariing food for the day...waiting in the dark), where are they living (multi family in one house??), the ride to work (if provided), general "life" stuff when they do manage to get some time off....more humanizing images.

    Hope that helps.
